When beginning the practice of patterns it is important to emphasize careful delivery of the technique and a good understanding of the technique. All patterns listed are performed under the assumption that the student is facing “D” (see pattern diagrams). There are a total of twenty-four pattern ins Tae Kwon-Do. The name of the pattern, the number of movements, and the diagrammatic symbol of each pattern symbolize either heroic figures in Korean history or instances relating to historical events.
